Common Problems (Difficulties)

Approximately 90% of the difficulties that we encounter may be resolved by following the information and procedures below. We suggest that you review the information below prior to contacting us as this may very well resolve your difficulty. 

• Updating to the latest version of the software - Great Planes and Knife Edge Software are continually striving to make an already delightful program even more enjoyable thanks to the introduction of features which elevate the performance of this simulation. Updates are free of charge and will take just a few minutes of your time.

• Updating to the latest video/sound drivers - It is important to note that although you might have purchased your computer yesterday, chances are the device drivers (see below) for the video and/or sound card are not the most current versions available. Software changes rapidly and as a result so do the drivers. Therefore, we suggest that you update your drivers prior to installing or running our software. 
  A device driver acts as a ‘translator’ between the device and the programs that use the device. This allows the program to function properly with the respective device. If you're not using the most recent drivers, your programs may not be running at peak efficiency- or perhaps you are experiencing unexplained ‘glitches’ or other such difficulties as a result.

• Close all other programs which may be running in the background.  Programs such as Norton Clean Sweep and other resident programs can really cause havoc.

• Update to the latest version of DirectX.
